Getting the best from hybrid working
Thoughtful piece from Lynda Gratton (Hot Spots Movement) about the need to think seriously about re-designing work given the shift to hybrid working. She recommends four principles
- Don’t move too fast
- Keep the trade-offs in mind
- Resolve to experiment
- Nurture the leadership skills that managing preferences will require. It will require a degree of intentionality that has not been necessary in traditional working practices.
The power of images
Thought provoking piece from Eshe Lewis, cultural anthropologist and art co-ordinator at Sapiens about the challenges of selecting images to accompany articles in the magazine.
Organisational Innovation Through Design

Shadow side of the Pandemic
The 25th November was the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and emerging data is showing that violence against women and girls has increased since the outbreak of the pandemic.
This is the Shadow Pandemic growing amidst the COVID-19 crisis and we need a global collective effort to stop it. As COVID-19 cases continue to strain health services, essential services, such as domestic violence shelters and helplines, have reached capacity. More needs to be done to prioritize addressing violence against women in COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.
UN Women provides up-to-date information and support to vital programmes to fight the Shadow Pandemic of violence against women during COVID-19. This short video gives advice on how we all might help.
The Pet Effect
A wonderful life affirming project brought to my attention by Impressions Gallery, Bradford. As the servant of two extraordinary, very large cats, Evie Scarborough’s ‘The Pet Effect’ project really resonates with me.
Through these photos, I document the endearing relationships many people have with animals, whatever their species, showing the positive effects they can have on human health. This can vary from relieving stress and anxiety, to giving people a reason to leave the house and get exercise.
