Friday Selection Box: 19th November 2021

Heritage, creativity, and mental health

Wonderful new report from the Resolution Trust for the Baring Foundation as part of their Creatively Minded series.  Lots of case study stories to think about.

Creative recruitment

I have been really inspired by two tweets on doing recruitment differently this week from Watershed and the Princes Trust.

Watershed:  make a video about the role then caption it and include BSL interpretation

Princes Trust: explain why certain skills, experience and knowledge are required/desirable for a role in a person spec

Changing history: Diversifying the museum workforce

The 2020 Inc Arts Hold On report revealed that only 2.7% of the museums, galleries and libraries workforce are from Black and Minority Ethnic communities. We want to know why that is and what can be done to change it.

An important discussion about barriers to entry, pathways and more. Booking in advance via Eventbrite. Online event: Thursday 25th November 2021, 18:30-20:00 GMT (organised by Creative & Cultural Skills, and Rising Arts Agency)

The Award for Civic Arts Organisations

There is still time to get your application in! Deadline is 1pm on the 22nd November.

The second edition of the Award for Civic Arts Organisations shines a spotlight on how arts organisations are rethinking their own relationships with the communities they serve as we emerge from a period of disruption and acceleration of trends in the art world and in society. We offer one award of £100,000 and two of £25,000.

UK Disability History Month

Disability History Month started yesterday. Lots of events, ideas, and provocations. Do get involved.

UK Disability History Month (UKDHM) is an annual event creating a platform to focus on the history of our struggle for equality and human rights.
